ZoĆ« Foster Blake’s Exact Skincare Routine: ‘I Used To Think It Was Wanky’

She also regularly visits two of Sydney's best facialists.

While you’d be forgiven for thinking Zoë Foster Blake’s skincare routine is made up of every product from her wildly popular Go-To range available, that’s not quite the case.

The author and beauty mogul obviously uses her own products (why wouldn’t you), but has an AM and PM routine down pat that flexes with her lifestyle. A day of heavy makeup? Better double cleanse. Got an event coming up? Book in with one of Sydney’s top facialists and use one of her own cult face masks.

“I get professional facials once every two months, or before big events,” Zoë tells marie claire Australia.

“[Facialist and Chanel skin expert] Mel Grant is a cherished member of my beauty army, she is very up to date on the latest procedures and tools, but has a core philosophy of gently, gently. We have been doing PICO for my pigmentation and it’s really helping.”

‘PICO’, or picosecond, is a non-invasive laser facial treatment used to address a range of common skin imperfections, including pigmentation, acne scarring and sun damage.

“I also see Natasha Tchornobryvko,” Zoë says, referring to the renowned Double Bay-based facialist. “She has the magic touch, that’s the only way to explain it. There’s no fancy tech, just decades of experience, and wholehearted TLC.”

The latest weapon in Zoë Foster Blake’s skincare arsenal? Go-To’s newly released Prep Step face mist ($29).

“I thought mists were a bit wanky until I realised how they supercharge serums and amplify the application and penetration of masks and creams,” she says. “Now I can’t imagine not misting, it helps product penetration, effectiveness, and spread. Our Prep Step also hydrates and soothes the skin.”

She uses it every day, morning and night, right before applying her serums and moisturisers and “definitely masks”.

“Also between primer and foundation, or if I’m reapplying tinted moisturiser throughout the day, I mist before that layer.”

Sounds like the hardest working product in Zoë’s skincare routine to us.

Zoë Foster Blake’s morning and evening skincare routine

Unless she used a face mask the night before, Zoë doesn’t cleanse her face in the morning. Instead, she simply rinses then moves straight into misting and serums. Her serum at the moment is the Much Brighter Skin ($59), using the Vitamin C and niacinidamide to to treat her hyperpigmentation.

“While that sinks in, I brush my teeth and apply lash serum, then I press our face oil Face Hero ($45) into my chest, neck and face for glow and nourishment,” she says.

“If I’m puffy, this is where I wince and use my ice roller, which I keep in the freezer. I finish off with a very generous application of our soon-to-be-released daily SPF, no matter the weather or time of year.”

At night, she uses the Fancy Face oil cleanser ($45) if she’s been wearing a lot of makeup or sunscreen, then follows it up with the Properly Clean cleanser ($33).

“I exfoliate with Go-To Exfoliating Swipeys ($46) three times a week,” she says. “Next is Much Plumper Skin ($48) on freshly misted skin to deeply hydrate and plump my cute little expression lines, before Face Hero and finally Very Useful Face Cream ($45) to seal everything in.”

For shoots or events — like attending the 2022 Logies with husband and Gold Logie winner Hamish Blake — she uses a Transformazing sheet mask, which also works for those times when “I’ve been on a flight, am hungover, or my kids have woken me up 400 times overnight and I feel like a piece of bin sludge”.

“It gives instant plump, glowing skin,” she adds.

Then each Sunday, she does a DIY facial: a mist followed by Go-To’s clay mask The Removalist ($48) and barrier repair mask The Repair Shop ($50).

“This makes a big difference,” she says, “in the days following and in 10 years time.”

The main thing to remember with skincare is that it’s about tailoring it to your needs, whether that’s your life stage, skin concerns, budget, or even how much time you want to dedicate to caring for your skin.

At age 41 — she recently celebrated a delayed 40th birthday with a very fashionable few days in Europe — her skin has never looked so good. We’re taking notes.
