Ryan Gosling was nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars this year, but unfortunately his wife Eva Mendes couldn’t be there to share the moment with him this time.
In a new interview with Shape magazine, the actress opened up about why she’s just not a ‘red carpet’ person, and why she didn’t make it this year.
“What people don’t know about me is that I love being home,” Eva says. “Instead of hitting the red carpet, I’d rather be with our girls.”

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes rarely make red carpet appearances together, so the Oscars isn’t really an exception to the rule.
She also spoke to the fitness magazine about her workouts and how she’s adapted after having kids.
“In some ways, it’s been more challenging to get back in shape after my second daughter. Yet it’s not as hard as I thought it would be, because I’m always running around with the kids. I never sit down—I’m on the move all day.”
She added, “I love doing intervals, like running and sprinting, and I see great results with that versus the 30 or 45 minutes of steady cardio I used to do on the treadmill. Between intervals, I lift weights. Right now I’m sticking to light weights because I have a herniated disc in my lower back. It’s pretty severe, and I have to work around it. I love squats, but I’ve been told that I have to do lunges instead of squats for the time being. I know a lot of people wouldn’t find that heartbreaking, but I really do!
She mentioned that her weakness when it comes to sweet foods is Cadbury chocolate eggs – particularly difficult to resist as Easter is coming up!
“The mini ones and the big ones with the filling,” she said.
