20 years ago, on July 4th 1999, one of the world’s most famous pop stars married one of the world’s most famous football players. 25-year-old Victoria Beckham (nee Adams), then known more by her stage name Posh Spice of the Spice Girls, wed 24-year-old soccer star David Beckham in a castle on the outskirts of Dublin with their four-month-old son, Brooklyn, serving as ring bearer. At the time, neither of them probably realised that two decades – and four children – on they would be the definition of a power couple and held as an example that despite immense fame, love can survive.

To celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary, both Victoria and David took to Instagram to share throwback photos, including images from their wedding day and a lot of iconic style moments.
44-year-old David shared a slideshow of images, writing: “WOW 20 years , look what we created ♥️ Love you so much,” tagging his wife and their four children, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper.
Victoria shared her own slideshow of favorite moments in video form, writing, “20 years today. I love you so much xxxxx Kisses x @davidbeckham.”
In 2018, the couple opened up about sustaining a marriage in the spotlight, with Victoria telling British Vogue, “People have been making things up about our relationship for 20 years, so David and I are pretty used to ignoring the nonsense and just carrying on as normal. But these things have a wider effect on the people around us, and that’s unfair . . . We are much stronger – the six of us – than we would be if we were individuals. We respect that family bond, and that is key.”
