While many people have been gunning for Michelle Obama to run for president in 2020, she has other plans in mind for when she moves out of the White House with her family this week.
First things first, sheโs ready to just relax and do everyday things that just werenโt possible when her husband was in office.
โI want to open my front door without discussing it with anyone โ and just walk,โ she told Oprah in an interview late last year. She added that it would be amazing even to open a window in her house, which she hasnโt been able to do since living in the White House.

But sheโs settled back into civilian life, there are some projects she wants to get started on immediately. First off the bat is assembling a small group of staff to work on them. Michelleโs longtime deputy chief of staff Melissa Winter spoke to The Salt Lake Tribune about Michelleโs plans.
โWhen sheโs ready, our group will come together and weโll do strategy. And weโll talk about what does the first event for the new Michelle Obama look like. How do we want it feel and how does she want it to feel?โ
The group of staff want to help Michelle find a voice in her newfound more private role as a civilian. And one of the first projects will be writing her memoir, which is expected net a multimillion-dollar advance.
โProbably down the line there are many books in her,โ Winter said. โI think sheโd be a wonderful childrenโs book author. We havenโt set up a process for that, but down the line it would be a natural way to exhale from an experience like this.โ
The Obamas will be moving into a house in Washington DC over the next two years while Sasha finishes high school.
We canโt wait to see more of Michelle Obama!
