Theresa May To Become Britian’s Second Ever Female Prime Minister

Andrea Leadsom withdraws from the race following her controversial comments.

British Prime Minister David Cameron is set to resign tomorrow from the role he has held since 2010 on Wednesday, as he makes way for Home Secretary, Theresa May, to take the top job.

May was officially named as the Conservative Party Leader yesterday after Andrea Leadsom pulled out of the race following her controversial comments about motherhood and leadership.

May will become the country’s second female Prime Minister, after Margaret Thatcher became the first in 1979 and served until 1990.

Like Cameron, May was opposed to the recent “Brexit” vote to leave the European Union, and now says she will work to find the best possible solution but will stand by the decision voted by the people.

“Brexit means Brexit, and we’re going to make a success of it,” she said after the announcement on Monday.

“There will be no attempts to remain inside the EU. No attempts to rejoin it by the back door. No second referendum. The country voted to leave the European Union, and as prime minister, I will make sure we leave the European Union.”
