There couldn’t be a better time than Mother’s Day for the most popular baby names in America for 2016 to be released.
The list, announced yesterday by the Social Security Administration, is fairly predictable (yes, Charlotte is on this list too) —with a few surprises thrown in.
Topping the list of the most popular baby names for 2016 is Noah for boys, and Emma for girls.
Business Insider Australia reports Noah has made big leaps and bounds in popularity since 2007. Liam has also soared in popularity from 89th spot two years prior, up to second place.
For girls, Emma was the most popular name for a third year in a row (Stone, Watson and Roberts are trendsetters in more ways than one), followed by Olivia, Ava and Sophia.
According to Time, just a year after Caitlin Jenner made her public debut, the popularity of the name has plummeted more than any other baby name.
“It was inevitable,” Laura Wattenberg, founder of BabynameWizard.com said. “Caitlyn was already falling in popularity. Now it is suddenly controversial.”
