There was a lot to love about the 2017 runaway hit The Sinner, from its gripping murder mystery to Jessica Biel’s Golden Globe-nominated performance and of course, her amazing bangs.
The brilliant eight-episode series that we caught on Netflix explores why a young mother named Cora (Jessica Biel) inexplicably stabs a stranger to death at the beach (we promise that’s not spoiler). Did she know the victim? Why are her memories missing? Will she strike again?
Here’s the good news: The Sinner is coming back to the USA Network for a second season. But while Biel will return as executive producer, it’s unclear if she’ll actually make an appearance in the show, Variety reports.
The second season will follow Bill Pullman’s character, Detective Harry Ambrose, as he investigates the murder of two people by their 11-year-old son in Upstate New York. Like the first season, there is initially no apparent motive for the grisly crime.
“The Sinner was a huge success for USA Network,” Chris McCumber, president of entertainment networks at NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment said in a statement.
“In our second season, we’ll follow Detective Ambrose as he tracks his newest ‘why-dunnit,’ while staying true to the unique, edge-of-your-seat storytelling that captivated audiences and critics alike.”
We’ll be watching.
