Thomas Jackson was severely injured after he intervened against Frenchman Smail Ayad who attacked 21-year-old Ayliffe-Chung after he reportedly became infatuated with her.

Jackson was hospitalised with multiple stab wounds to his head and leg but the ABC now reports that the 30-year-old’s life support has been turned off.

Police have confirmed they will upgrade Ayad‘s charges at his next court appearance scheduled for October 28.
