The Emmys A Decade Ago: The Guests, The Couples And The Fashion

The 68th Emmy Awards are fast approaching, so we decided to take a look back on 2006 awards ceremony. Prepare yourself for a blast from the past with plenty of embellished belts, halter necks and, for some reason, lots of purple.

Katherine Heigl, Ellen Pomeo and Kate Walsh

Our favourite surgeons all attended for their roles on the hugely popular drama series Greyโ€™s Anatomy. The three shimmered in sequins, velvet and beads.

Debra Messing

Messing, who stared in the beloved comedy Will & Grace, looked stunning in a tiered Alberta Ferratti gown. The series rapped up in 2006 after 8 years on the small screen. Time for a 10-years-later reboot?

Chandra Wilson

The Greyโ€™s Anatomy star looked stunning in a vibrant red Radley Bayou gown.

Julia Louis-Deyfrus

Elaine, I mean, Julia Louis-Deyfrus, has won a handful of Emmys throughout her career, but the 2006 win was for The New Adventures of Old Christine.

The stars of The Office looked fresh faced after the series won Outstanding Comedy Series.

Jeremy Piven

Remember the hit series Entourage? Pivenโ€™s portrayal of the highly stressed, hilarious character Ari Gold earned him an Emmy. Bring back the cravat we say!

Candice Bergen

We promised statement belts, Candice Bergan delivered. The Boston Legal star presented the Aaron Spelling Tribute at the 58th Annual Emmys.

Mariska Hargitay

Our favorite small screen hero won Outstanding Lead Actress in A Drama Series for her portrayal of Detective Olivia Benson.

Teri Hatcher

You canโ€™t say the words โ€˜2006โ€™ and โ€˜televisionโ€™ in the same sentence without reference to Desperate Housewives. Hatcher, who played the frazzled single mother Susan on the drama series, stunned in a canary yellow gown.
