Last night, hearts broke all across Australia as The Bachelor‘s golden girl Tara Pavlovic was sent home.
Fighting back tears, the 27-year-old nanny said her goodbyes to the final two (Laura and Elise) before speaking to Matty briefly outside.
Though it’s been a few months since that night, Tara says it was still a bit tough to watch.
“I guess with the music and everything it does make it quite sad,” she told marie claire. “I was like, ‘oh, that poor girl on the TV getting her heart broken!'”
On whether she could see it coming
“I didn’t feel like the date was off at all,” Tara said of her last time with Matty. “So I guess in a sense I was taken back because the date was so good.”
“But then in a sense I wasn’t because I knew one of us had to go and I knew that he had a close connection with all of us.”
“He never gave me a reason – I haven’t spoken to him since – but he must just like the other girls better.”
She definitely didn’t expect the reaction she got from fans, though – or to even be a favourite from the show.
“I wasn’t expecting it at all, it’s kinda weird to look at yourself like that but it’s a nice surprise.”
“The amount of comments and support is nuts,” she continued, speaking about her Instagram post following last night’s rose ceremony.
“It’s sad that Matty’s getting a lot of backlash from it,” she continued. “I just hope that he and whoever he chooses get the support that they deserve because they’re both great.”
On her true feelings about Matty J
“A part of me was caught up in it,” Tara said while speaking about her connection with Matty.
“I did feel like that at the time, though,” she clarifies. “I did really enjoy his company. I had a really good time with him and I did really like him, but then I went home and I got over it, I guess, which is what I had to do.”
“I wasn’t in love with him but I could definitely see myself falling in love with him pretty soon, and I’m just glad I didn’t,” she continued.
On the things we didn’t see on camera
“We’re all a bit more wild than what they show on TV,” Tara says. “We’re all pretty silly off the camera, we had fun.”
“It was all quite serious on the show but I did a few dance lessons, a few aerobics lessons at the cocktail parties that you didn’t see.”
“I wall twerked on the first night I got in there.”
On her relationship with the girls
“A few girls in the house have been spreading rumors about me that aren’t true. Rumors about me and the bartender and about me and my mum, and rumors that I started drama in the house.”
“All of these things have been taken totally out of context just to make me look bad. And Troy, it was really upsetting to see Australia hate my brother.”
Though there’s a few people she clearly doesn’t spend time with, Tara says she gets along well with the top two.
“I haven’t had a chance to catch up with Elise yet but I’ve caught up with Laura. I’m often in Sydney so Laura picked me up from the airport one day and she brought me a chicken and cheese burger which was so cute.”
On whether she’d consider being the next Bachelorette
“I think everyone wants me to, and I wish I had it in me to do it but you have to let other people down in that process. I’m happy to put my hand up and risk myself getting let down and heartbroken but I just don’t think I’d be able to do it to other people.”
“And the crap I’ve read about myself, I don’t like it, and even looking at the backlash Matty’s getting, I just don’t know if I wanna risk my happiness to do that.”
“I’m ultimately trying to find the love of my life so I think I’d rather do it in a more conservative way.”
