According to Dutch model and eliminated Bachelor contestant Florence, there’s a lot you didn’t see from her time in the mansion.
From her intimate chat with Matty J in the secret garden, to silly games during cocktail parties, she says “there’s so much that you don’t see, but it definitely happened.”
In the secret garden, Matty J confessed that he was developing “strong feelings” for Florence. “That was really cute,” she tells marie claire.
“We also played little games at the cocktail party — ‘Snog, marry kill’— games like that. I asked him about Cameron Diaz, Margot Robbie and Jennifer Lawrence,” Florence recounts. “He would definitely marry Jennifer Lawrence.”
Out of Jake Gyllenhaal, Orlando Bloom and Justin Bieber, the model had a very surprising choice of her own.
“I said Bieber, but I didn’t mean it, I just wanted to sound very immature. But I would definitely date Bieber, probably marry him as well! Team Bieber for life.”
Applying the game to the remaining Bachelor contestants is a much trickier decision.
“I would marry Elise,” Florence says, before adding: “I would marry all of them, I think. They’re all good friends of mine, I love them and they’re such good girls. Matty has good taste.”
The contestant admits her exit on Thursday night’s episode did not come as a surprise, nor is she heartbroken about the verdict.
“I wasn’t in love with him and it was coming so close to the end, and I started thinking ‘What if I don’t fall in love with him ever and I’m going to be in the final two?’ That would be a problem,” she says.
“So when he said ‘Florence, get out of here, you’re not getting a rose,’ I was like, ‘Cool, cool’.”
How Matty J compares to Dutch men
Florence believes Matty J has a “pretty European” sensibility, having lived in London for years.
“He could have been from Amsterdam, actually. The way he looks, the way he dresses, even his sense of humour—he’s pretty sarcastic and dry. He’s not that different,” she says.
“I usually go for brown eyes and dark hair. He is an attractive guy and seems like my type, but apparently not my type enough to fall in love with him.”
Her pick to win
The contestant changes her mind almost every day on who will be the last woman standing on The Bachelor.
“I think Elise made a really strong comeback, she didn’t get a date until later on and she’s going super strong,” Florence explains. “So she is a really strong contender, but Tara is amazing and so is Laura. So I can’t pick it, I’m excited for next week!”
Booze in The Bachelor mansion
In our minds, the Bachelor experience goes hand-in-hand with glasses—maybe litres—of wine. Florence reveals there isn’t nearly as much alcohol in the house as you might believe.
“Laura and I would sit outside a lot and have wines, talk for hours and go to bed really late. But sometimes I would be in bed at 8.30 like a granny with my book,” she says.
“There was hardly any alcohol in the house. Every now and then we could have a wine, but it’s not like we were drinking every night—not at all.”
The cocktail parties, however, were a whole other story. “The cocktail parties were pretty boozy, definitely.”
Dating after The Bachelor
The model reveals she hasn’t been on any dates since leaving the show. She won’t be downloading Tinder any time soon, either.
“I haven’t been dating, I stayed away from guys as I was still on the show. Also I’m not desperate to find love,” she explains.
“I’m not looking for dates, and I don’t really like dating, so unless I really, really like someone I’m not going to look for a guy. If it happens, it happens.”
But would she consider being the next Bachelorette?
“That would be a lot of fun to be on the other side, deciding what dates you’re going on and who you’re taking,” she says. “I really believe in the process, so I would definitely love to be the Bachelorette.”
