The drug’s manufacturer, Allergan, has recalled almost 170,000 sample packs of birth control pills because of the mixup, CNN reports. In the affected packs, four placebo capsules were placed where the active capsules were meant to be,

“As a result of this packaging error, oral contraceptive capsules that are taken out of sequence may place the user at risk for contraceptive failure and unintended pregnancy,” Allergan said in a statement .

“The reversing of the order may not be apparent to either new users or previous users of the product, increasing the likelihood of taking the capsules out of order.”

The company has asked for all sample pack products with the lot #5620706 Exp. May 2019 to be returned.
