On Monday, Sydney mother Sandra Tee posted distressing footage of her five-week-old baby suffering from a Whooping Cough episode in a bid to educate families on the importance of vaccinations.

The video, posted to her Facebook page shows young Heidi struggling to breathe in a hospital bed and being supplied with oxygen, however the mother of two urges parents not to ignore the warning signs writing on Facebook โ€œour baby girl only had a slight cough to start.โ€

โ€œWhooping cough is not always a loud obvious cough. The scary symptom for babies is when they donโ€™t cough but silently choke and turn purple/blue from lack of oxygen.โ€

The video has been viewed almost 400,000 times and sends a critical message about vaccinating children showing what can happen when babies donโ€™t get vaccinated and sadly what happens when they are too young like Heidi.

โ€œBabies rely on herd immunity to keep them safe and unfortunately we cannot achieve that without high vaccination rates.โ€

Tee went on to say โ€œIf we werenโ€™t in hospital and sitting watching out baby 24/7 the outcome would be fatal.โ€

โ€œPlease share this to educate more people on the importance of vaccinations.โ€

Tee said her husband has been amazing and they are taking shifts to watch over little Heidi until she recovers.
