Steve Price and Jamila Rizvi butted heads on The Project last Wednesday night, and outraged viewers have responded by creating a petition demanding that The Project apologise for the way he was treated.
The petition, created on Monday, already has over 30,000 signatures, and Steve Price responded to it by dismissing the need for it. He spoke on The Project last night about the issue.
โCan I say something upfront,โ he said.
โA lot of people have been outraged on my behalf today. Someone started a petition that I know nothing about, media have been reporting stories I have been somehow bullied on this show last Wednesday night, the election special.
โI donโt feel I was bullied at all. Iโm a big boy, I can look after myself, letโs get on with the program.โ
The clash initially occurred when Jamila Rizvi was asked on the show about what she felt about the demographic breakdown of who voted for Trump, when Steve Price interrupted. He said that the results showed that the people in โreal Americaโ, which he considered โsmall town Americaโ, werenโt buying what Clinton was saying.
Rizvi interjected to point out that โreal Americaโ, was all of America.
โSorry, can we cut this bull**** about the idea of there being a โreal Americaโ?โ Rizvi said.
โIโm sorry, I was speaking before you interrupted,โ Price responded. โIs it OK if I speak?โ
When Rizvi said that the question was directed at her, he responded sharply.
โThis is the reason why Donald Trump won,โ he said.
โBecause people like you lecture and heckle people.โ
Carrie Bickmore cut in to say he shouldnโt speak to โthat toneโ, and that the question was directed at Rizvi.
