Steve Price and Jamila Rizvi butted heads on The Project last Wednesday night, and outraged viewers have responded by creating a petition demanding that The Project apologise for the way he was treated.
The petition, created on Monday, already has over 30,000 signatures, and Steve Price responded to it by dismissing the need for it. He spoke on The Project last night about the issue.
“Can I say something upfront,” he said.
“A lot of people have been outraged on my behalf today. Someone started a petition that I know nothing about, media have been reporting stories I have been somehow bullied on this show last Wednesday night, the election special.
“I don’t feel I was bullied at all. I’m a big boy, I can look after myself, let’s get on with the program.”
The clash initially occurred when Jamila Rizvi was asked on the show about what she felt about the demographic breakdown of who voted for Trump, when Steve Price interrupted. He said that the results showed that the people in ‘real America’, which he considered ‘small town America’, weren’t buying what Clinton was saying.
Rizvi interjected to point out that ‘real America’, was all of America.
“Sorry, can we cut this bull**** about the idea of there being a ‘real America’?” Rizvi said.
“I’m sorry, I was speaking before you interrupted,” Price responded. “Is it OK if I speak?”
When Rizvi said that the question was directed at her, he responded sharply.
“This is the reason why Donald Trump won,” he said.
“Because people like you lecture and heckle people.”
Carrie Bickmore cut in to say he shouldn’t speak to ‘that tone’, and that the question was directed at Rizvi.
