Boy George is set to be the subject of his very own biopic. And he recently revealed a very surprising casting choice that had been thrown in the ring.
Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner is said to be in considerations to be playing the role of the iconic 80’s superstar.
George spoke to Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa on Monday about his upcoming movie and let spill that Turner’s name had been thrown in the ring.
“One of the most interesting suggestions was Sophie Turner,” George said.
“I think that will upset people which I quite like. [People will say] she can’t play you she’s a woman, you know. But when I was 17, I would have loved to have been her. That was the ambition!”
George also revealed the film is being produced by MGM and will be written and directed by Sacha Gervasi, while George has come on as executive producer.
Sometimes biopics cannot always be the most flattering representation, but George claimed that the thought did not bother him.
“In our game, there is always stuff that is written about you that is so ridiculous,” he said.
“I don’t mind it though, it makes me sound more interesting,”
“He sleeps upside down on the roof. He only lives on lentils, that kind of stuff… I think it just makes a great picture.”
Boy George now stars as a judge on The Voice Australia, on which he actually starred alongside Turner’s husband Joe Jonas.
It will definitely be one of Turner’s more out there roles but with the acting chops she showed on GOT and as the star of her newest film X-Men: Dark Phoenix, we think she’ll do the role total justice.
