Songwriter Of Beyonce’s ‘Sorry’ Finally Talks ‘Becky With The Good Hair’

Finally, we know who the song's about!

Beyoncé’s album Lemonade caused a big stir when it was released, mostly for the attention it gave to Jay Z’s affair. But one lyric in particular had fans stumped – in her track ‘Sorry’, she famously sings “Better call Becky with the good hair”.

Fans have speculated for months over ‘Becky’s’ identity – suggesting it could be Rachel Roy, Rita Ora, or even Taylor Swift. But finally, we have an answer!

Beyoncé’s songwriter Diana Gordon told Entertainment Weekly that the lyric was written about ‘no one in particular’.

“I laughed, like this is so silly. Where are we living?” she said. “I was like, ‘What day and age from that lyric do you get all of this information? Is it really telling you all that much, accusing people?'”

Rachel Roy and Rita Ora have publicly denied the rumours. Gordon says she wasn’t expecting the extreme reaction that ‘Sorry’ caused.

“The idea started in my mind but it’s not mine anymore. It was very funny and amusing to me to watch it spread over the world,” she said. “If it’s not going to be me saying it, and the one person in the world who can say it is Beyoncé, I was f–king happy. With Beyoncé, I feel like the songs we worked on were specifically for her.”
