โLike everything to do with Kimmy K, thereโs nothing black-and-white about having an unsolicited opinion on her latest drama.
Wait up, I agree thereโs no question that the whole having aggressive men enter your hotel room, while youโre in bed, zip-tying your legs and arms together, while yelling at you and rifling through your personal things while you wonder if theyโre going to rape of kill you would be utterly terrifying. Yes, sheโs a victim here of a horrific crime. No question.
But then you hear about what they took, and somehow, straight-shooting Karl Lagerfeld starts to make a little bit of sense.
Because, think about it, it took them about five minutes to take over $14 MILLION in jewellery. Break it down: Five minutes, $14million. Was she sleeping in a bed of DIAMONDS?
How did they know this excessive wealth would be lying around? Yes, that was rhetorical, because the entire world knows she is literally dripping in all manner of finery because she documents it all on social media in a crass display of wealth. There, I said it.
So this is where itโs tricky. Because you just donโt want to victim blame but maybe, just maybe, itโs also time for the Queen of the Kadashians to question her thoughtless Marie Antoinette-like excess and how she dedicates her life to rubbing her lavish lifestyle into the faces of the have nots.โ
For:
โHave we all lost our minds? Of course we have to feel sorry for Kim Kardashian. I donโt wish violent crime upon anyone. Not even my arch nemesis. Not even any of my ex-boyfriends. Not even the guy at the coffee shop who burns my toast and slathers half a jar of vegemite on it every single day without fail.
Why? Because nobody deserves to be a victim of an aggressive crime. Nobody deserves to feel threatened in the privacy of their own apartment. While in bed. IN BED. Nobody deserves to be bound and gagged, and fear that they might be raped (or worse โ killed).
Itโs as simple as that.
The fact that Kim was supposedly flaunting her personal wealth and carrying around millions of dollars worth of jewels is beside the point. First of all, because what else was she supposed to do with it? Leave it in the case and not wear it? She was in Paris for fashion week, sheโs a โ love her or hate her โ popular fixture at the bi-annual Parisian circus, and sheโs an independent woman, one of the wealthiest in the world. In the eternal words of Beyonce and co, the rock she was rocking? She bought it.
Itโs victim blaming, plain and simple. And we need to do better than that.โ
