If you count yourself as a fan of Gone Girl, Big Little Lies, Amy Adams or all three, there’s a new show that should definitely be on your radar. And in even better news, the first teaser trailer just dropped this week.
Meet Sharp Objects, the chilling eight-part HBO series based on the best-selling 2007 novel from Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn. The psychological thriller follows crime reporter Camille Preaker (Amy Adams) who returns to her hometown after a stint in a psychiatric hospital. There, she begins investigating the murder of two school girls—and identifies with the case a little too closely.
In true Gillian Flynn fashion, you can expect gruesome crime, a compelling female lead and plenty of twists and turns.
Sharp Objects has a killer cast: Patricia Clarkson will star as Camille’s mother Adora, alongside Chris Messina, Sophia Lillis, Eliza Scanlen, Elizabeth Perkins and Matt Craven
The HBO series will be directed by Big Little Lies genius Jean-Marc Vallée, and written by UnREAL’s Marti Noxon and Flynn.
“I’m really excited – I think it’s going to be a great piece of television programming and I think it’s going to be a much better series than it would have been a movie,” executive producer Jason Blum told Digital Spy.
“The scripts are super compelling – it’s programming that you have to keep watching.”
