In December, reports started circulating that Selena Gomez’s mum, Mandy Teefey, had been hospitalised following a heated argument with her superstar daughter over Justin Bieber.
Though the reports were never confirmed by the family, Selena and her mum unfollowed each other on Instagram that same day and haven’t been seen together since.
Now Mandy has opened up about Selena’s rekindled romance with Bieber, saying she’s “not happy” with the pair getting back together but that “Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe and healthy.”
Every mother and daughter has disagreements,” Teefey says in the interview with Gossip Cop.
“She is 25 years old and knows what is at stake with her health. I do not control her the way it has been portrayed. Selena is an adult and can make her own choices,” she continues.
Teefey also says it was a mutual decision to stop managing Selena in 2014, denying that it affected their relationship negatively.
“We never expected to manage her her whole life. We lost family time because the only time we saw her, we talked business,” she explains. “It was no longer fun for any of us, like it was when she was younger and we had to be with her because she was a minor.”
