Just when you thought United Airlines and Pepsi were frontrunners for the ‘worst PR week in history’ award, Sean Spicer stood in front of worldwide media and declared that even Hitler didn’t sink as low as to use chemical weapons on his own people.
Yes, that really happened.
The White House press secretary was addressing Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad’s, horrific use of chemical gases on April 4th, killing 75 innocent civilians – many of whom were children – and prompting the U.S. to deploy missile strikes against the leader a few days later.
However, as anyone who has ever attended history class (or, you know, read about World War II) would know, Hitler killed millions of Jews using chemical weapons in gas chambers of concentration camps.

Oh, and said concentration camps were also referred to as “Holocaust centres,” while we’re at it.
Spicer, who was asked to clarify by the room of bemused journalists, then backtracked saying he only meant that Hitler didn’t gas his own people in the way that Assad did, “he took them to the Holocaust centres.”
