Sarah Ferguson (the Duchess of York, mum to Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and close friend of the late Princess Diana) has opened up about what Di would have thought of her daughter-in-laws.
Speaking candidly on Good Morning Britain, Fergie said Princess Di would have been so proud of the “wonderful” Duchesses.
“She’d really just be so proud. Even before they got married, Diana would have been just literally going ‘I can’t believe these boys have done so well’. They are such a credit to her,” Fergie said, adding that Diana would have “loved every moment” of her son’s weddings.
“She had this enormous compassion and I honestly think she’d be so proud of the wonderful Meghan and Catherine as well, she’d want to embrace them and say ‘You’re doing well’,” Fergie continued.
Before Diana’s tragic death 21 years ago, her and Fergie were dear friends and confidants.
“I miss her, no one made me laugh better than her. She was hilarious,” Fergie said about her late friend.
In the touching interview, Fergie also spoke about the advice she’s passed on to her daughters Beatrice and Eugenie: “I often say to my girls, I’ve been there, made the mistakes, so they know what not to do, which is really cool actually. All I can say to anyone, if I was talking to myself or my girls, is be who you are.”
Wise words from The Duchess of York.
