A 41-year-old mother of four has pleaded guilty to fraud after duping lonely men out of millions.
Sanaa Derbas tricked men she met online with dating service LavaLife, by โborrowingโ money off them for various reasons including funeral costs for family members whom she told them had died as well as false medical bills.
โSeeing my mum last night and feeling her cold body did something to me that I couldnโt shake. Baby please donโt leave me,โ she text messaged one 59-year-old victim.
โI love you, canโt wait to be with you. I havenโt eaten since yesterday,โ she wrote to another.
Police found three diaries at Derbasโ home which contained the names of 349 men as well as details of all of her aliasโ.
All up she managed to rake in over $2 million from seven different men across seven years.
One victim paid her more than $1.7 million alone, while another paid her over $93,000.
โThe offender, posing as different female persons attempted to commence relationships with these men,โ the facts read, according to News Corp.
โTexts sent from this mobile telephone by the offender which referred to her motherโs recent death on six separate occasions to six men.โ
In court, Derbas pleaded guilty to 11 counts of dishonestly obtaining money by deception, reports SMH.
