Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding was always going to be less traditional than past royal nuptials, but even we were surprised by American bishop Reverend Michael Curry’s sermon during the service.
The bishop’s words rose in a passionate crescendo as he spoke of the link between love and the divine. He quoted Martin Luther King Jr. and talking about slavery.
The speech was beautiful and, alongside the gospel choir, proved Meghan isn’t going to take her new role lightly or forget about her biracial American upbringing.

However, it seemed to continue for longer than even Harry and Meghan had prepared for. Not to mention, the animated performance would be completely different to anything the royal family would have sat through before.

During the sermon, many of the royals struggled to keep a straight face, Kate Middleton, Princess Beatrice and Zara Tindall among them.
