Rachel Bilson is discussing her split with actor Hayden Christensen for the first time since they separated almost one year ago.
“Being a mum is No. 1 for me and it always will be,” Bilson, 36, told People. The actress candidly discussed her “tricky” relationship with Hayden, 37, and their 3-year-old daughter Briar Rose.
“Most important for me is that Briar is okay and secure and stable. No matter what I’m dealing with or how much it hurts or how much anger there is, it’s just about her.”
“We say Mummy has a house and Daddy has a house but she’s pretty young to have an in-depth conversation,” she added.
Bilson, who split from Hayden after 10-years together in September 2017, shared a rare glimpse of Briar Rose Christensen to celebrate Mother’s Day.
“Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there who’s alarm clocks are drop kicks to the face. I wouldn’t trade that wake up call for anything in the entire world, becoming a mother has been the greatest gift and now I know the actual meaning of true love,” the Hart Of Dixie actress shared alongside the sweet photo.
“Celebrating all mums today in every form. And the biggest thanks to my mum who has the biggest warmest heart, you have taught me so well. you’re my best friend and I love you.”
Rachel and Hayden’s decision to part ways was partly due to their conflicting work schedules, reports from Us Weekly, “She’s full-time back in L.A. He’s in Toronto,” says the insider. “They’ve been on the outs for a couple of months.”
Bilson gave birth to their daughter, Briar Rose, in October 2014. They met on the 2008 film Jumper and Christensen proposed just a few months later.
