Queen Elizabeth II Posted Her Very First Instagram Today

Her caption game is strong

Queen Elizabeth II is no stranger to social media. Four years ago, Her Majesty dabbled in the art of Twitter, sending out a tweet from the science museum. Now, the 92-year-old monarch is trying her hand at Instagram.

The Queen shared a letter written to her great-grandfather Prince Albert on the Royal Familyโ€™s official Instagram page. The Queen isnโ€™t the type to just caption her Instagram with just emojis thought. She instead wrote a long, thoughtful caption about the significance of the letter and tied it into the greater insight she took from her visit there.

One canโ€™t help but wonder if she reached out to granddaughter-in-law Meghan Markle for some helpful โ€˜gram tips beforehand?

โ€œToday, as I visit the Science Museum I was interested to discover a letter from the Royal Archives, written in 1843 to my great-great-grandfather Prince Albert,โ€ she started.

โ€œCharles Babbage, credited as the worldโ€™s first computer pioneer, designed the โ€˜Difference Engineโ€™, of which Prince Albert had the opportunity to see a prototype in July 1843. In the letter, Babbage told Queen Victoria and Prince Albert about his invention the โ€˜Analytical Engineโ€™ upon which the first computer programmes were created by Ada Lovelace, a daughter of Lord Byron.โ€

โ€œToday, I had the pleasure of learning about childrenโ€™s computer coding initiatives and it seems fitting to me that I publish this Instagram post, at the Science Museum which has long championed technology, innovation and inspired the next generation of inventors. Elizabeth R.โ€
