Princess Eugenie Just Became The First Royal With Her Own Personal Instagram Account

Will Meghan Markle be next?

Meghan Markle was forced to shut down her personal Instagram account (and website… and acting career…) when she got engaged to Prince Harry last year, but it looks like the British royal family may be reconsidering its stance on social media: Princess Eugenie just joined the photo-sharing platform. We bet Megs is livid.

Newly engaged herself (to her boyfriend of eight years, Jack Brooksbank), Princess Eugenie made her Insta-debut on International Women’s Day with a video of herself speaking at the SSE Arena to raise awareness of scoliosis, which she was diagnosed with as a child.

“I can think of no better day than today, International Women’s Day, to launch my personal Instagram. I hope to use this platform to share the causes, passions and people close to my heart,” the 27-year-old wrote.

This was followed by one of the royal engagement portraits she recently had taken at Buckingham Palace, and a throwback photo with her mother, the former Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, to commemorate UK Mother’s Day.

In the three days since she’s joined Instagram, Princess Eugenie has amassed a healthy 18k followers.

As the first cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry, her ability to create an account begs the question: which royal will be next?
