The newly released season three of The Crown brought Princess Anne, the Queen’s only daughter, into focus, showing her to be a smart, quick-witted and strong-willed young woman, traits the real princess perfectly displayed during a meeting with US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at Buckingham Palace.

Played by actress Erin Doherty, a young Anne has a near-constant smirk, loves to punch her brother, Prince Charles, and has no time for any nonsense from her family. Though the show hasn’t yet portrayed the incident, someone even attempted to kidnap her in 1974 and despite being threatened at gunpoint and told to get out of the car, the 23-year-old royal responded “bloody likely” and stayed put.
Fast-forward to 2019 and it doesn’t look like much has changed. The 69-year-old is going viral online after being seen basically telling her mum to leave her alone for refusing to properly greet Trump.
During a reception at Buckingham Palace, the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla stand in line to greet Trump and Melania, while Princess Anne stands off to the side.
In a clip caught on camera, the 93-year-old monarch is seen turning towards her daughter and appears to gesture to her to join her, but in response, Princess Anne just shrugs.
Naturally, the internet is having a field day over the moment and Princess Anne was quickly trending on Twitter.
We can’t wait to see this drama played out in The Crown season six.
