Prince William has said he believes that social media can be damaging to children and heightens the social pressures that are put upon them from an early age.
During a gala celebrating the partnership of the charities The Childrenโs Trust and Skillforce, Prince William highlighted the increased pressures placed on children as a result of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat, People reports.
โThe pressure on young people these days is considerable โ almost certainly more than even for my generation not so long ago,โ he said.
โChildren are tested more than ever before and are being prepared to enter a highly competitive work market,โ he continued.
โOn top of this, there is a sense of being โon callโ 24/7 through social media, and the subsequent strains this can have on relationships, home life and, ultimately, a childโs sense of their own self-worth. It can all take its toll.โ

Prince Harry has also issued his concerns with the high levels of screen time that has become so normalised in society.
โPeople are spending far too much time online and itโs like a mental running machine that they canโt get off. You wouldnโt put your body through such a workout,โ he said last month.
โIโm the last person to say ban it but people are suffering from mental fatigue and getting burnt out. We all need to talk to each other more.โ
