Overnight, the Australian actress was nominated for her first-ever Academy Award – Best Actress in a Leading Role – for her portrayal of Tonya Harding in I, Tonya.

The 27-year-old will battle it out against Frances McDormand (‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’), Sally Hawkins(‘The Shape Of Water’), Saoirse Ronan (‘Lady Bird’) Meryl Streep (‘The Post’).

After being snubbed at the Golden Globes, Greta Gerwig got her Best Director nomination for Lady Bird, becoming one of only five women to ever be up for the award. The movie’s lead, 23-year-old Saoirse Ronan, was also nominated for Best Actress – her third Academy Award nomination (yes, you read that right: she’s 23).
