Smallville actress Allison Mack has been accused of imposing a restrictive calorie controlled diet on India Oxenburg – the daughter of Dynasty star Catherine Oxenburg and fellow NXIVM member – to appease the group’s leader.
Mack previously pleaded guilty to crimes in connection with the ‘self-help’ group which prosecutors say sexually exploited women. The latest accusations were made by another ex-member during testimony in the sex trafficking and conspiracy trial of group leader Keith Raniere.
As reported by The New York Post, the testimony was given by a 31-year-old actress known only as “Nicole” – she says she was put on a 500 calorie-a-day diet for more than a year. The starvation plan was imposed by Raniere who said she should lose weight to get down to her “ideal” size of 107 pounds or 48 kilograms.
To put this into perspective, a healthy recommended calorie intake for the average woman is between 1500-2000 calories. Catherine Oxenburg’s – the victim’s mother – confirmed The Post’s report telling People that Mack’s alleged behaviour was “horrendous and despicable.”
Previous witnesses have described Raniere’s alleged preference for his “slaves” to be skinny, sleep-deprived and compliant.
“I knew India was on a restricted diet of between 500 to 900 calories, but I had no idea it was down to 500 calories for a year,” said Oxenberg. “It’s so many layers of disgust. When you think it can’t get worse, it does. The layers of sadism and cruelty are endless.”
In April, Mack pleaded guilty to charges of racketeering conspiracy and racketeering. She will be sentenced in September.
Prosecutors allege that there was a secret all-female sub-group of Nxivm called DOS in which women were allegedly forced to participate in a sex cult and be sexually subservient to Raniere.
During the trial, another victim identified only as Daniela told jurors that the 58-year-old leader set up surveillance to monitor the women’s diet. Adding that he would “oink like a pig” if they disobeyed according to The Post.
“He was surveilling everybody’s food intake,” an NXIVM victim identified only as “Daniela” told jurors of Raniere at his Brooklyn federal court trial. “He would take an absurd focus on what everyone was eating.”
Raniere has not pleaded guilty to any allegations.
