Update: Following public backlash over her husband Dan Single’s attempt to fundraise $250,000 to cover his medical bills after falling from a balcony in Paris, model Bambi Northwood-Blyth deleted her Instagram account.
Single’s Go Fund Me page was littered with comments from people saying he was “pathetic” for trying to get the public to cover his costs, and was pulled down last night after only raising $475.
Bambi, who has an Instagram following of 229k filled with pictures of the pair, then shut down her account, showing her anger over the controversy.
However, a few hours later the model obviously changed her mind and the page reappeared. The 25-year-old hasn’t posted since the Go Fund Me page incident.
Original: Ksubi co-founder Dan Single has spoken out for the first time since falling from the third level of the Grand Amour hotel in Paris last month.
The esteemed designer created a Go Fund Me page in the hopes of raising $250,000 to pay for his recovery costs. In a post called ‘Sh*t got real’, Single penned an open letter to his fans, stating that all funds raised would go towards his “hospital bill, rehab bill, early flights home, being unable to make bread and work over the next months and all the incedentals the family is covering at the moment.”
However, the public certainly didn’t react the way the he had hoped.
Donating $5 just so they could write a message on the page, people questioned how Dan could flaunt a luxurious lifestyle, filled with travel and expensive items, but needed help covering his own medical bills.
Which certainly explains why the fundraiser had only raised $475 out of the $250,000 he was asking for before it disappeared from the internet this afternoon.
One anonymous person wrote, “How come you can fund partying, drinking and overseas trips but not your own recovery? I’ll give you $5 with the sole intent of telling you what an idiot everyone thinks you are.”
While another said, “Fund your own recovery. You’re a disgrace.” A third offered advice the designer seemed to listen to, writing, “There are people truly deserving of financial assistance,” finishing with, “Take this down before too many people see it.”
Before the page was pulled, Dan opened up about the event, saying, “Everything you have heard is true. I fell 3 floors (35metres) out of my hotel room in Paris, did a sumersault and landed on my feet which saved my spine and my brain (a miracle says the doctor, 1 in 100 million chance). I did however shatter every bone from my feet to my hips and pelvis.
“I have been in a coma for two weeks, had 8 operations and am covered in pins and bolts in my bones. I cannot use my legs for another month or two so will be in a rehab centre in Paris recovering.”

He went on to claim that the experience gave him a “second lease at life” as he is “SO grateful, inspired and excited to be back soon.”
Single then invited his fans to a fundraising dinner in Sydney in early May (which we’re pretty sure won’t be happening now) and urged those who couldn’t make it to donate via the Go Fund Me page.
