The day after a 19-year-old man was charged over the death of a woman found at a soccer field in Melbourne, the 22-year-old victim has been identified.
Comedian Eurydice Dixon was heading home from a successful gig, which friends say had her in high spirits.
Moments before her death, Dixon pulled out her phone to let a friend know she was almost home.
โIโm almost home safe, HBU [how about you],โ she messaged Tony Magnuson on Facebook just after midnight, News.com.au reports.
โShe was happy and content. She gave me a hug, blew me a kiss and said she was going for a walk,โ Mr Magnuson told Fairfax Media.
โShe was on top of the world because her gig went so well.โ
Members of the comedy community have been posting heartfelt messages about Dixonโs devastating death to social media. โAn important and funny voice has been extinguished,โ one person wrote. โOur comedy community is like a family and this news is beyond heartbreaking.โ
Dixonโs body was found around 2:40am on Wednesday morning.
Jaymes Todd, 19, handed himself in at Broadmeadows police station that night. He appeared in court on Thursday charged with Dixonโs rape and murder.
