Since attending Wimbledon together to watch Serena Williams play in the ladies singles finals, numerous reports have been released surrounding Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s relationship. While last year’s news cycle was filled with rumours of a royal rift, these stories are the complete opposite, with those close to the duchesses saying they are closer than ever after the birth of Meghan’s first child, Archie Harrison.
A few weeks ago, it was revealed that the royal women were bonding over motherhood with a source telling People their relationship was “strengthening” and that they are “each a little more relaxed” after the birth of Archie – “They have more in common now.
Now, royal writer Carolyn Durand is confirming that motherhood really did save Kate and Meghan’s friendship, saying that they’re now so close they text each other all the time. “Kate was a great source of support to Meghan in the days leading up to Archie’s birth and, despite reports of a rift, they are family and have a really lovely friendship,” she said an interview with Hello!.
“Their relationship has constantly evolved over time and they have become closer since Meghan’s wedding,” Durand added, saying, “they talk and text regularly, they have more in common and Kate has wanted to make sure Meghan has felt welcomed to the family.”
While we’re not sure exactly what Kate and Meghan are texting about, we’re going to guess play dates and Meghan giving tips on how to make the perfect avocado toast. Yep, that’s definitely it.
