Just as expected, Meghan has proved herself to be very popular, already boasting hordes of British fans, and winning over the royal family, with the Queen said to be quite taken with the former Suits actress.

But according to the actress’ new biography, Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, the 36-year-old underwent training before meeting the Queen, supposedly learning the proper way to drink tea.

Yes, really. According to multiple sources, including US Weekly, Meghan rehearsed the art of tea drinking months in advance of meeting the monarch, learning about the royal protocol and etiquette of tea drinking, from how to hold the cup to the correct posture to hold, at the Rose Tree Cottage in California.

The future royal then put her skills to the test, taking tea with the Queen at the Balmoral Castle before the couple’s engagement was announced.

It certainly seems that the lessons were well worth it, with Meghan reportedly getting the royal seal of approval from the Queen – and her corgis.

‘I’ve spent the last 33 years being barked at,’ Prince Harry joked in their official engagement interview. ‘This one walks in, absolutely nothing’. Meghan then confirmed the story, explaining, ’[The corgis were] just laying on my feet during tea, it was very sweet’.

‘[Meeting the Queen was] incredible’, she explained. ’To be able to meet her through his lens, not just with his honour and respect for her as the monarch, but the love that he has for her as his grandmother, all of those layers have been so important to me.’
