It comes as no surprise that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are all about breaking tradition, and the royal couple isn’t stopping just yet.
It’s customary for British royal weddings to serve fruitcake on the top-tier of their wedding cake. This is so it can be preserved (and then re-served) for the couple’s first child’s christening.
Veering away from royal expectations, the pair has chosen their wedding cake to be made of bananas! Yes, you read correctly: their cake will be banana-flavoured. A source told The Daily Telegraph that the Prince has a special love for bananas, and so it will be that “this will be the first royal wedding cake made from bananas”.
But Harry’s obsession with the fruit isn’t the only reason why they’ve chosen this tradition-breaking flavour.
Upon confirmation of the couple’s relationship in 2016, Meghan used a super cute banana pic to represent her budding romance with the Prince, captioning the post: “Sleep tight xx”.
Royal traditions be damned; we’re loving the sentiment.
