It was the moment that shocked the country – Tracey Jewel managed to forgive partner Dean Wells after he admitted he had been involved in an affair with fellow contestant Davina Rankin.
“He wouldn’t have any consequences, and he wouldn’t be accountable.
“I thought, ‘No, I’m going to make you be responsible and see this week through, so you can see what you have done.”
“I know that sounds spiteful, but guys like this get away with this s— all the time. And it wasn’t going to work with me,” the 29-year-old confessed.
But now, the single mother has opened up about the reason behind her option to continue her journey on Married At First Sight and she puts it down to making him take responsibility for his actions.
“Guys like (Dean) think they can get away with it — and he’d never have to see me again if I left,” she told Confidential.
Ultimately, Tracey revealed the fact that she wasn’t quick to exit the show, helped her overcome any confusion after the explosive confessional episode.
“I didn’t want to leave that night, because I felt like … there were a few things running around my mind,” she said.
“One was: ‘I need answers. I need closure. And I am not going to get them on this couch, tonight. I need time to process this. And I want to see the text messages.’”
“This is just the type of person I am. I was like: ‘I want to know everything. Tell me everything.’ So I can make a decision, and get closure on this.”
But Tracey also opened up about Davina’s part in this.
“I felt like, ‘You know what, girls like Davina think they can get away with this,’” she said.
The star even offered advice to Davina, who is 3 years her junior.
“And yes, at 26 you can get away with it — or you think you can, and you think you can have any guy you want — but let me tell you, in 10 years’ time, Davina, you’re not going to be able to get away with this crap.
“And hopefully she’s learnt the lesson now, rather than later.”
Regardless, this week is home visits and Tracey reveals she’s excited to get some distance from the group so she and Dean can focus on their relationship.
“Look, (Dean) was very, very remorseful at that second commitment ceremony,” she says as she plans to give him this second chance.
