New photos of Margot Robbie as Queen Elizabeth I – a role Cate Blanchett famously made her own in 1998’s Elizabeth – have been unveiled, and the blonde Australian actress looks nothing like her usual self.
The first two official photos were shared exclusively with Entertainment Weekly, which reveal not only Robbie in full royal garb and fiery red wig, but also Saoirse Ronan in the title role of Queen Mary.
According to EW, the film, titled Mary, Queen of Scots, will explore the political tension between the two queens. It also stars David Tennant and Guy Pearce.
In August, paparazzi snapped Robbie on the set of the film in London, revealing the extent of the transformation she’s undergone for the role:
Mary, Queen of Scots is slated to hit cinemas in November 2018.
