Although our favourite homage to ABBA will always be Muriel’s Wedding, you can’t deny the Mamma Mia! musical has a lot of fans too.
A sequel to the hit Mamma Mia! film is in the works with the original cast and some new names signing on too.
As Deadline reports, musical icon Cher has announced she’s joining the cast of Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, with a series of excited tweets.
The 71-year-old singer tweeted the song “FERNANDO,” followed later by the update: “Just went through two dance numbers, Everyone’s Great.”
Previous cast members Meryl Streep, Julia Walters, Christine Baranski, Amanda Seyfried, Dominic Cooper, Pierce Bronsan, Stellan Skarsgård and Colin Firth will be back for the sequel. The film will also feature Andy Garcia, Lily James and, Alexa Davies, among many others.
According to the BBC, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! is being filmed both on location in Croatia and in the UK, and will feature songs from the Sweedish band not included in the 2008 film.
