While appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon overnight, Maisie Williams, who portrays Arya Stark on Game of Thrones, seemed to drop a major spoiler about the fate of her character.
During her interview, she said, “Shooting the final days was really emotional with saying goodbye to all of the cast because when I found out that Arya died in, like, the second episode, I was—”
Williams quickly put her hands over her mouth and froze.
The audience was dead silent.
“What?” Fallon asked, clearly taken aback. “Are you kidding me? That’s a spoiler!”
Williams asked frantically, “Is this live? We can edit that out.”
“Dude, yeah totally,” Fallon replied.
“They’re still gonna tweet about it,” Williams added, referring to the audience. She looked seriously worried and even a bit shaky.
“No, don’t worry about it. Are you serious? It’s fine,” Fallon assured the actress. “We can edit that right? We can edit it out. Don’t worry about it.”
The Tonight Show host got the audience to restart the scene by applauding, but Williams looked too flustered to continue. She put her hands over her face and ran offstage. “I’m sorry,” she said before leaving.
But, when Fallon went to the wings to look for her backstage, she hopped out and they both yelled, “April Fools!”
Phew! We’ll have to wait until April 15 to see Ary’s fate.
