90210 and Riverdale star Luke Perry has passed away at the age of 52, Buzzfeed confirmed. TMZ was the first to report the news, writing Perry died Monday morning after suffering a “massive stroke” last week. Perry’s publicist confirmed the news saying the actor was “surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends,” when it happened.
The rep added that “the family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning.”
Perry had an over 30-year career that started in the ’80s. One of his most iconic roles was Beverly Hills, 90210’s leading heartthrob Dylan McKay. More recently, Perry had been playing Fred Andrews, Archie Andrews’s dad, on Riverdale.
Many celebrities have taken to Twitter to mourn the loss of Perry.
