A series of letters written by Princess Diana to her personal secretary, Jane Parsons M.B.E, are due to be auctioned off in April and according to the auction house they reveal “intimate” details of her marriage to Prince Charles.
One letter, dated August 15, 1985, written from the Royal Yacht Brittania during her honeymoon, described her honeymoon as the “perfect opportunity to catch up on sleep….”, reports Vanity Fair.
While many have leapt on to this detail as a sign of their doomed marriage, all brides will know the days after the wedding are often spent recovering from the big day – and months of preparation in the lead up. (So considering her wedding was dubbed “the wedding of the century” and was watched by some 750 million people worldwide, who can blame her for indulging in some serious R&R?)

The 25 letters also detail life after Prince William was born, in which she again, described her need to sleep, as well as worries her staff were overworked after being inundated with mail and gifts to celebrate the future king’s birth.
“I know you are being buried under a avalanche of mail…don’t despair, there won’t be another baby Wales until I’ve had a decent rest,” she wrote.
A typed tally, included with the letters, details the 4,500 presents received after Wills’ birth along with 24,000 thank you letters sent out by ladies in waiting.
