After it was rumoured that the upcoming James Bond movie would be Daniel Craig’s last, speculation started about who would be tapped to take over the iconic role of 007 for future films. Finally, it looks like we have confirmation with reports that actress Lashana Lynch is set for secret agent status.

Overnight, The Mail on Sunday broke the news that the the 31-year-old Captain Marvel actress will play 007 in the new James Bond film, revealing that while Daniel Craig will reprise his role as Bond, Lynch will come in as a new secret agent and take over his famous codename.

“Traditionalists can relax: she’s not the new Bond, but a new character who takes over his secret agent number after he leaves MI6,” the publication reported. “It’s a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he’s been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman.”

According to a “movie insider,” Lynch’s debut happens in the first few scenes of the movie, when M, played by Ralph Fiennes, says, “Come in, 007.”
