Kylie Jenner Finally Explains Why She Chose The Name Stormi

The star opens up about motherhood

While her pregnancy was one of the worst-kept secrets in Hollywood, it seems Kylie Jenner is now ready to talk openly about her daughter, choosing her name, how motherhood has changed her – and even changing nappies.

In her first interview since giving birth to daughter Stormi on February 1, the 20-year-old reality star sat down with big sister Kim Kardashian – who also welcomed her daughter Chicago just two weeks before – to chat all things motherhood for Evening Standard.

While it’s not unusual for the KarJenner’s to bestow unique names on their offspring, Kylie’s choice of Stormi has definitely been one of the more controversial.

But Kylie says, while it probably wasn’t one of their top choices, it was just meant to be.

“I really don’t know how we thought of Storm. Her dad [Travis Scott] insisted it was him, but I feel like it was me. And that kind of just stuck with us,” Kylie explained.

“And then I didn’t really like just Storm — I didn’t feel like that was her name. So then it became Stormi. And it just stuck. I feel like there were a lot of other names that I might have even liked better, to be honest, but I feel like Stormi picked her own name, like it was just her name.”

Of motherhood in general, the star says it’s been “so much fun”.

“I’m learning so much more about myself and life, and it’s been such a great experience,” says Kylie. “Of course, there’s hard times and stuff … even in the beginning, just not sleeping, the nights, like, baby blues … and all the ups and downs.”

While Kylie says she doesn’t feel like motherhood has changed her as such, she says feels like a better version of herself and that it has made her “less selfish”.

But she does admit she finds it really hard when she has to leave her.

“I think about her all the time, anywhere I am. I would rather be with her or wish she can come everywhere. I can’t wait till she can come everywhere with me, because right when she’s old enough I’ll bring her everywhere.”
