Kim Kardashian’s Pre-Robbery 60 Minutes Interview

‘I can handle the lack of privacy’

Before Kim Kardashian was held at gun point and robbed in her Paris hotel on October 2, she sat down with 60 minutes for an interview about fame, money and her life in the public eye.

The interview aired in the US on Sunday October 23 and the 36-year-old was candid about her public persona and capitalising on that through social media.

“There are pitfalls: lack of privacy, loss of privacy,” she tells interviewer Bill Whitaker. “That’s not for everyone. For me, I can handle it.”

When Whittaker asked if her fame could exist without social media, she responded, “Not in this way. I totally attribute my career to social media”.

Following the Paris attack, Kim has gone completely silent on social media, with experts predicting she stands to lose $1 million per month on just social media alone.

When Whittaker says she “monetized the act of living,” the reality star agrees, “Yeah, I guess so,” she says.
