Speaking at the opening of the annual School Leaders Forum, run by charity Place2Be, Middleton’s talk focused on how schools can address mental health problems and also drew upon her own experiences as a parent.

“As a mother, just getting used to leaving my own child at the school gates, it is clear to me that it takes a whole community to help raise a child,” she explained, PEOPLE reports.

“Whether we are school leavers, teachers, support staff or parents we are all in this together.”

While pregnant with her third child, the Duchess has battled hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness. Her illness prevented her from attending four-year-old Prince George first day at school at Thomas’s Battersea in south London.

In her speech, Middleton explained that supporting the mental health of students, plus teachers and parents, was a top priority.

“Collaborating with experts like yourselves, we’re looking at providing easy access to information and practical tools to support teachers, parents and children feel comfortable talking about their mental health. We are all here today because we share the belief that every child deserves the chance to fulfill their potential,” Middleton said.
