Kate Middleton Is Being Baby Bump-Shamed After Her First Public Appearance

Royal baby-watchers expected a bigger bump

She somehow managed to drag herself to a formal event while suffering from debilitating hyperemesis gravidarum, but pregnant Kate Middleton has come under fire from social media users, who think she should be showing a bigger baby bump.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined industry leaders from across the country at Buckingham Palace for World Mental Health Day, with a royal aide confirming to Hello! that “the Duchess’s condition is improving but she is still suffering.” Nevertheless, they said she was “delighted” to attend.

After Kensington Palace posted photos from the occasion on Instagram, the reaction was swift – and in some cases, scathing.

One user called her “an emaciated, severely malnourished anorexic”, while many questioned whether the Duchess actually is pregnant, taking aim at her weight and the fact that she looked well.

Happily, others commended the Duchess for making the effort to attend such a worthy cause, despite her condition.

For the occasion, The Duchess wore a pale blue lace dress by Temperley London (which is still available to shop) and black stilettos, paired with a black clutch.
