After three children and 21 years of marriage, TODAY host Karl Stefanovic left his wife Cassandra Thorburn, going public with partner Jasmine Yarbrough, who he wed in a secret ceremony in March of this year, three months later.
Now Cassandra has opened up about her divorce from the TV presenter and the impact it had one their three children, Jackson, 18, Ava, 12, and River, 10.
“There has been practically no contact. I feel like we’ve been discarded and disposed of, replaced by a whole new line-up of starters,” she told Australian Women’s Weekly.
“Last year, I declared that Karl really was dead to me, a man I no longer know, but the children still have their father,” the mother-of-three continued.
“The flip-side of that is I feel like we’re dead to his family and almost anyone from our old life.
“The children still have a father but I don’t have a husband,” Cassandra previously said of the marriage breakdown. “He really is dead to me and no, we won’t ever be friends again.”
“I was completely gazumped when I realised Karl had gone,” she told Woman’s Day in October. “I questioned and doubted myself about everything.”
