When the police responded to her call, Justine walked out of her house and down to the officersโ€™ car in her pyjamas. She was leaning in talking to the officer closest to her when the other leant across and fatally shot her in the chest.

Now, five days after the incident which ended an innocent womanโ€™s life and left her heartbroken friends and family desperate for answers, we finally have the police officerโ€™s recount.

Though he has refused to speak to investigators or media directly, a friend who wants to remain anonymous has recounted what Mohamed Noor told him about the night.

โ€œMohamed believes he acted to protect himself and his colleague but accepts since that she was not armed,โ€ they told The Daily Mail.

โ€œIt was over in seconds and it was a very tense moment. He is sorry for the woman and her family,โ€ they continued.

โ€œBut he would never have opened fire without genuinely feeling in danger.โ€

The friend says that when police arrived at the scene a distressed figure ran towards the car and Noor couldnโ€™t tell what they were carrying, so he fired out of his partnerโ€™s window.

Following on from her tragic death, details have emerged about the past hardships Justine faced and her courageous journey to find happiness.

As news.com.au reports, a video posted to YouTube eight days before Justineโ€™s death captures an hour-long speech she gave at Minneapolisโ€™s Lake Harriet Spiritual Community centre.

The 40-year-old discussed her motherโ€™s battle with alcoholism, depression and cancer.

โ€œI saw that my mum was really at the mercy of her mind and her emotions and she couldnโ€™t get out. She was really being ruled by her addictions,โ€ she said.

โ€œI was witnessing a potential future for myself โ€ฆ and that terrified me.โ€

Justine said she struggled with her own addictions after her motherโ€™s death from cancer.

โ€œIt was one of the darkest points in my life and over the six months before Iโ€™d really spent several periods considering whether I wanted to stay on the planet or not,โ€ she said.

โ€œSo I was really, really unhappy and really quite sick.โ€

But Justine had an epiphany and turned to mediation and other spiritual beliefs to find peace in her life.

AAP reports that Justine had training as a veterinarian and became a meditation teacher, life coach and yoga instructor.

Originally from Sydney, she was engaged to marry her 50-year-old partner Don Damond.

Her heartbroken partner has spoken out about her shock death, saying that both he and his son are โ€œdevastatedโ€ by their loss.

โ€œOur hearts are broken and we utterly devastated by the loss of Justine,โ€ the 50 year old said in a statement outside his Minneapolis home.

โ€œShe touched so many people with her loving and generous heart. She was a teaching to so many and living a life of openness, love and kindness,โ€ Don continued, as reported by News.com.au.

โ€œShe was so kind and so darn funny. It is difficult to fathom how to go forward without her in my life.โ€

State officials revealed that the officersโ€™ body cameras were not switched on at the time of the shooting.
