Jessica Marais Is The Only Female Actress To Be Nominated For A Gold Logie

Seriously, Australia?

There’s something missing from this year’s TV Week Logie Award nominations, and you may not find it particularly surprising.

The good news is, Jessica Marais has been nominated for a Gold Logie for her work in Love Child and The Wrong Girl.

The bad news is, she’s the only women nominated in that category.

This isn’t new for the Logies nominations, which are typically male dominated. Last year, Noni Hazlehurst was only the second woman in the 59-year history of the Logies to be inducted into the Hall Of Fame.

However TV Week’s editor Emma Nolan has defended the nominations this year, telling News Corp that it’s ‘what viewers wanted’.

“It’s a celebration of Australian TV and the fact our readers have voted in record numbers shows they are excited about watching our shows, our dramas, our reality, our talent,” Ms Nolan said.

“People can knock it, but it’s what the viewers wanted.”

The winners will be announced on April 23 at the Logies ceremony, to be aired on Channel Nine.
