They’re the definition of friendship goals, and now Jennifer LAwence has given a candid interview about her friendship with Emma Stone, and how the pair met.
The 26-year-old Joy actress revealed that she received a text from Stone after Woodly Harrelson – whom they have both co-starred with – shared her number.
“I replied, ‘F—k off!’ And we’ve been really good friends ever since,” Lawrence told Vanity Fair.
The pair went on to text each other daily for an entire year, “I feel like it was our version of The Notebook—365 texts,” she joked.
Vanity Fair also asked Stone for her side of the friendship story, which tells a slightly different – and refreshingly honest – tale.
“She may not even know this,” she told Vanity Fair via email. “But there was definitely a time early on when I was like ‘OH HEY MY EGO IS GOING NUTS SHE’S SO GREAT AND VIBRANT AND TALENTED I’M SCREWED I’LL NEVER WORK AGAIN GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD.’ Then I chilled the f—k out—and remembered we’re completely different and there is room for everyone, even if it’s an industry that doesn’t really seem to support that idea up front.”
To which Lawrence added, “If I wasn’t her biggest fan, I would’ve Tonya Harding’d her in the kneecaps.”
